Greek Goddess Hera

I completed this painting to study the Greek Goddess Hera and her powers. Here we see her in a greek colonnade near the ocean and a field of grazing cows. The cow is one of her animal associations symbolizing mother and earth aspects. The peacock is also associated with her, representing dreams and personal power. Hera was Zeus' wife and the Queen of Heaven and strongly associated with the sea and protecting fisherman. She holds a fire torch to give light to fisherman and a pomegranate and grapes to represent harvest. We see the shadow of her twin aspect, Athena, the Goddess of Justice and War on the right side of the painting indicating the strong connection these two goddesses have to each other.
